Monticello Estate is located in the beautiful Virginia countryside, just outside of Washington, DC. An understanding of Thomas Jefferson truly lies in an understanding of Monticello. Once arrive, we will walk the grounds of this beautiful estate and explore the final resting place of the former president; we will learn how this historic site encapsulated his interests, talents, ideals, and ambitions. We will dive into the deep history to analyze his extensive education and his pivotal role in the Declaration of Independence. We will experience the mansion house but also an ornamental landscape, a plantation, a small mountain, a farm, and a large and diverse community.
After an in-depth exploration of Monticello and its role, we will also visit the University of Virginia for a quick tour before returning to Washington.
