San Diego is one of California’s most exciting cities, often referred to as an undiscovered paradise of the world. The varied landscape, its beautiful nature, mild climate, historical monuments, and proximity to Mexico turned San Diego into a travelers’ Mecca long ago.
Your journey will start right at the doorsteps of your hotel or Airbnb, where our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide will pick you up in a luxury vehicle. The tour will begin with a stop in downtown San Diego, where you will see the Maritime Museum and explore the Embarcadero and the Gaslamp Quarter, the city’s historical heart with lots of great restaurants and shops.
After that, we will go to Coronado Island to visit the famous Del Coronado hotel. The renowned Marilyn Monroe movie, “Some Like It Hot,” was filmed there; and the hotel, built in 1888, still attracts thousands of tourists yearly.
We will then check out Balboa Park, a fantastic replica of the old Spanish town. This extraordinary exposition center was built in 1915 to celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal. There, you can find 18 museums and two theaters, one of which is a copy of the legendary “Old Globe,” Shakespeare’s theater. There’s also an open-air organ, a Japanese garden, an orchid and rose garden, a palm canyon, and the most extraordinary cactus garden.
The tour continues with a trip to Old Town. Considered to be the soul of the city, which recreates the atmosphere of the first Spanish and Mexican settlements, Old Town is truly a sight to behold. In 1850, the population of San Diego was only 650 people. And now this place looks like a Wild West movie, with a single difference: everything there is real, from the Mexican mansions and old prison to the first-ever San Diego school.
We’ll finish our adventure by visiting La Jolla, an ancient Indian, for “The Pearl.” This spot is well-known for its stunning coastlines, rugged cliffs, and caves. You’ll catch a glimpse of the seals, who are happily living there, lying on the sand all day and taking in the sun. If you’re more of a city person, La Jolla still will satisfy you, as it has dainty streets full of restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, and art galleries.

We asked for a customized tour. We were considering moving to San Diego and wanted a tour through the various neighborhoods to get a feel for them and the city as a whole. Our guide, Leslie, was simply the best. She was knowledgeable, prepared, and enthusiastic as she showed off the city that she loves. We were more than happy with the experience!

I had the best time on this tour because our guide, John! He asked each person what they wanted the most out if the tour and he truly delivered! From food, to history, to architecture, to culture! He covered everything. He also made excellent recommendation on what to do taking into account our group’s interest following the tour for the remainder of our stay and so far, he’s nailed them all. Thank you, USA VIP Tours, for such an incredible and professional tour.
