Your journey will start right at the doorsteps of your hotel or Airbnb, where our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide will pick you up in a luxury vehicle. You will take a relaxing 90-minute drive from Boston while learning about the region’s complex history, especially around the American Revolution and the Gilded Age.
The area has five lavish mansions, but we will check out the most well-known ones. The first will be Vanderbilt’s seventy-room summer home, the Marble House, a birthday present to Alva Vanderbilt. With approximately 500,000 cubic feet of white marble, it was built in 1892.
After touring the estate, we will drive to downtown Newport for some great waterfront shopping and lunch. This location is a lovely spot to see some “toys” of the rich and famous, like private yachts, modern sailboats, and other ships from around the world.
We will then travel to the second famous mansion – the Breakers, home of Cornelius Vanderbilt II. Built by one of the wealthiest men in America, it was everything a millionaire of the Gilded Age could want in a summer getaway – a classic Italian palazzo design, the finest American and European craftsmanship, views of the sea, and modern technology combined to make the ideal setting for luxurious living and entertaining.

The tour was fantastic. Amazing sites. You can trust these guys. The Newport Mansions the Breakers and Marble House were incredible, and it’s hard to fathom living in such a grandiose place! It was a great day trip from Boston, and I highly recommend it.

The trip was very well timed and organized. Our guide and driver, Connor, provided many interesting details about sites along the way as well as history of Newport and owners of the mansions. We had great weather, so Connor took the time to show us other places along the way to Newport. This tour was well worth the money.
